Self-Care Tips and Quiet Acts of Kindness

Self-Care Tips and Quiet Acts of Kindness

We see self-care treats as little gifts to ourselves and with the importance of taking care of our well-being never been more talked about or prevalent, we thought what better time to pop on here and share some ideas. You’ll discover top tips on practising self-care, top picks for some self-care sparkle and a gentle reminder to add quiet acts of kindness into your daily routine.

You may have noticed, we like to call self-care treats ‘Quiet Acts of Kindness’ and we noted in our debut journal “These acts of kindness are not extraverted but instead come from a deeply personal connection. These acts come in all sorts of forms, and it’s our aim to be the inspiration behind your own quiet acts of kindness. From sending a handwritten letter to taking some for yourself to indulge in a little self-care to surprising someone with a thoughtful gift (yes, even if it’s not their birthday).” Head here to read more about our concept of Quiet Acts of Kindness.

So here are some top tips from AM to PM…

Morning Light to Clear the Fog

Brew tea, gather your thoughts and go outside (safely and somewhere local with lots of space) for some fresh air. Even in the depths of winter, getting outside is good for the soul. Wellbeing expert Natalie from Wild Form Yoga notes “A tool I use myself is a short walk every morning. It’s such an important way to start the day by exposing yourself to some morning light. Don’t just take my word for it, this 2017 study published in The Sleep Health Journal concluded that daytime light exposure is associated with reduced depression and increased sleep quality. As we have had time off work and more time at home this month you may have found yourself sleeping in more in the mornings and then struggling to sleep at night. If that’s the case you could try getting some morning light into your routine and see how you feel”.

Create a feel good playlist or listen to an uplifting podcast to get you through the day.

Some of our most loved Podcasts have got us through cold, early morning walks. We like to keep it real when in the realm of wellness and listen to ‘Happy Not Perfect’ which is a podcast that explores what it is to be human and how to thrive being human from the inside-out, bringing inspiring thought-leaders together to share, teach and facilitate change. We are also big fans of How to Fail with Elizabeth Day and Happy Place Podcast by Fearne Cotton
